Worcester Cathedral Christmas Tree Festival 2018

One hundred glittering trees have been creatively decked with tinsel, baubles and lights by local businesses, charities, schools and community groups.
The trees line all four sides of the Worcester Cathedral’s medieval cloister.
As well as many returning supporters, there are a number of new entrants and creative displays this year.
Caroline Mitchell-Wise, operation assistant at Worcester Cathedral, said: “This year is the biggest tree festival so far.
We have had 100 Christmas trees this year, which has reached our maximum capacity.
“There has been a wide range of people contributing, which is expected for a city like Worcester.
“It has been wonderful seeing all the participants working on their trees and all the hard work that has been put in.
“A lot of people want to get involved – we have even had to let people down this year as we could not possibly fit any more trees in the Cathedral.
"In June we send out the forms so people have enough time to sign up and get involved.
“It is a popular event, not just for visitors but also the people who want to decorate and provide a decorated tree this time of year.
“We are in partnership with Maggs Day Centre. There is a collection point in the Cathedral for food and clothing donations.
This is the second year the Cathedral has hosted the event. However the festival has been running for nine years. The free festival is open to visitors from 9am to 5pm everyday until Thursday, January 3. Courtesy Worcester News
My wife and I visited this wonderful display on 10th December. We have been to Worcester Cathedral many times before, it never ceases to lift one's spirits and entrance one's eye and imagination. This is a rich piece of England's history to be enjoyed and venerated.
Here are some of the Christmas trees plus scenes from the Cathedral itself -
